Voting

It’s taken a bit of time to ensure that we have got the voting process set up to ensure that everyone who wants to, can have their say.

The first step was to refine the number of concepts that were put forward into easy to understand concepts that people could read about and consider. This involved trying to find images to illustrate what they might look like although these were only ideas. We developed an “Example and Inspiration” document with illustrations that we emailed out to people, as well as on the website. We also placed A3 laminated copies of these in shop windows around town as well so people without the Community email or not on Facebook would see it.

We then needed to figure out how people could vote easily regardless of the way the engaged.

We opted for an online voting form and a physical voting location at the Russell Museum for people that preferred to vote in person. Because of the interest, and importance to everyone, that traffic on the Strand had, we decided it should have its own separate category, and not be lumped in with additional seating, BBQs and the like. This meant we ended up with 10 separate ideas on how to enhance the waterfront, and 4 options for traffic on the Strand, ranging from Do Nothing to Pedestrianisation with permitted vehicles only, plus two option in between.

Voting is now open, so what happens next is down to you!
