Trial Consultation

The final decision on the Strand traffic management trial will be done by the Council using a formal consultation process, as this is required under the Local Government Act for changes to roads.

All the input and feedback that has been received to date is providing valuable input and information about what people think, what works and what is causing issues. This will inform the design of the options presented for a final decision by the Community.

  • An online Survey (PDF hard copy also available)
  • Two pop ups in the community (dates and times to be confirmed)
  • Promotion via letters to all landowners in Russell township along with Posters and Social Media postings
  • Personalised Letters to residents and business abutting The Strand and Cass Street for their feedback.

The recommendation will go to the Community Board first, and after their review then to Council for their final decision.

Because it will take some time to collate and analyse the survey results, Council officers will be requesting that the Councillors extend the trial until Monday 1 September 2025. Officers are making this request because there would be a cost associated with removing, storing then re-installing the planters, signage, and barrels if the Council decides to retain the works based on the feedback it receives from the consultation.
