Play trail opening
International Children’s Day on March 2nd was the perfect opportunity to open the Play Trail and bless and name the little Play Whare that was so beautifully built by local resident Dave Beere.
The Whare was named Kohungahunga by Arapeta Hamilton representing the young people and infants for whom the whare was created. Supported by Ngā Pīpī Kororā – The Penguin Chicks, the children from the community, along with others visiting, were able to enjoy games and kai on the strand after the opening of the Whare.
Dancing steps are being painted by local artist Jacqui Madelin, which link the start of the Play Trail by the Town Hall down to the new Play Whare outside Haratu Marae,
